Drinking Black Coffee

I caught one of my favorite bands the Queers, opening for the legendary Black Flag, at Wynfield's in Satellite Beach last week. My friend Brandi snapped a photo of me and Biker Johnny with Greg Ginn, hanging in the bar, before the Queers set cranked up. It was an early show compared to the old days, and while I realize the song's a metaphor for drug use, I still needed some actual Black Coffee to stay up late enough to be out past my bedtime. And I'm glad I went. It's not every day you meet your punk idols in a bar in your hometown. Thanks for coming down to these parts. I was just so stoked to see an old school punk rock show without leaving the beach! If you're in the NorCal area, it looks like Black Flag is about to begin a string of dates, so go check them out, they sound really great live. Greg is still shredding, and Mike V covers the vocals without missing a beat. If you're in the LA/Hollywood area and looking to catch the Queers, they'll be at the Whiskey on the last day of February Then, Joe Queer and company have a few dates here and there, heading back east, before a late spring date in May at one of my all-time favorite venues the Middle East in Cambridge, MA. Follow the Queers on Instagram to see the latest updates. I love the groovy 50's and 60's melodies played with a punk edge, and the use of clever lyrics. I thought it was interesting that there was a surf jock element at this show that was too dumb to realize they're being made fun of by the band they've paid to see. Put your shirt back on surf bro, your muscles intimidate me. Until next time... see 'ya later funny face, f*** you!

A couple of very similar sets I found on YouTube...
